Support, guidance and practical help for drivers and the wider road transport community
The HGV Networking Group exists to connect people, share trusted information, and make it easier for drivers to access support whether that’s health, wellbeing, safety, or professional guidance.
This page brings together useful organisations, tools and references that drivers, operators and stakeholders can rely on. It will continue to grow as we work with more partners and develop new initiatives.
Driver Support & Mental Wellbeing
Driving can be isolating. Long hours, pressure, and time away from home take a toll. If you’re struggling, help is available — and reaching out is a strength, not a weakness.
- Andy’s Man Club
Peer-to-peer support groups for men, free to attend, no judgement, no pressure. - Grassroots Suicide Prevention
Education, prevention and practical tools to help reduce suicide and improve mental wellbeing. - Samaritans
24/7 confidential support for anyone struggling to cope.
📞 116 123 (UK) - Mind
Mental health information, advice and local support services.
If you’re in immediate danger or feel at risk, please contact emergency services.
Driver Health & Wellbeing
Good health keeps drivers safe — but accessing healthcare isn’t always easy in this industry. These resources focus on support, prevention and awareness, not enforcement.
- NHS guidance on occupational health
- Driver medical information and best practice
- Preventative health checks and wellbeing awareness
- Industry discussions around improving access to healthcare for professional drivers
The HGV Networking Group continues to work with industry partners to promote fair, accessible and non-punitive health support for drivers.
Safety, Training & Professional Development
Safety on the road protects everyone. Training should support drivers — not overwhelm or penalise them.
- Road safety guidance and best practice
- Bridge strike awareness and prevention
- Fatigue management and cognitive load
- Driver CPC reform discussions
- Neurodiversity and inclusive training approaches
We advocate for real-world, driver-informed training that reflects the realities of the job.
